Do companies have a share in the IPs that attempted their challenge?
• We offer a default IP policy for the event, but by principle, we encourage companies and participants (especially those offering valuable solutions) to form different forms of collaboration freely. One of the core values of this event is to avoid prescribing how collaborations should take shape and instead focus on enabling and supporting them to emerge organically.
• The default IP policy is as follows: Participants retain ownership of any IP they create during the hackathon.
• The organizer and the company offered the challenge receive a royalty‑free, non‑exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, evaluate, and promote hackathon submissions
• This is to avoid the complexity of joint ownership of IP (which always needs mutual agreement for licensing and commercialization).
• We are still finalizing the design for this part, and we also welcome your feedback.
